I completely agree with what you said about moderation in all things.
You're right, every day we are bombarded with conflicting info on health and sleep and it can be very confusing.
As to the study of postmenopausal women, most menopausal women don't get enough sleep.
Those who sleep too much, do so because the quality of their sleep is so poor due to their hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms, so I don't see how this can be compared to the average person's sleep. As hot flashes are caused by vascular changes in menopausal women, this could be the cause of increased stroke in this group..
