Yes, it is a badge of honor. At what expense? Perhaps the fact that your brain cells will slowly die due to exhaustion, increased chance of memory loss, and the fact that your reflexes will be sluggish.

I am not demeaning the occupations that require you to be forced of sleep. But perhaps companies that hire these professionals should look into their health and safety standards.
